Carer’s Adjustment Payment
The Carer Adjustment Payment is a one-off payment to some families who have a child under 7 diagnosed with a severe illness, medical condition or major disability and are ONLY receiving the Carer Allowance from Centrelink. Families should contact Centrelink directly regarding eligibility. Please click on the following link for further information regarding this payment.
A one-off payment to support families in financial hardship after a catastrophic event affecting a child younger than 7.
This payment is for you if you give full time care to a child younger than 7 who has been affected by a catastrophic event. Catastrophic events include things like:
- childhood stroke
- diagnosis of a severe medical condition, such as childhood cancer
- car accident or other accidents.
The amount available is up to $10,000 for each child in a catastrophic event. How much you get depends on your family’s circumstances.
